Voici le premier post consacré à un projet démarré à la fin de l’année passée.
Modifier et raccourcir un châssis VW pour le projet Manx d’un client. le chassis buggy Manx project
Les planchers étaient dans un état tel qu’il fallait les remplacer, c’est la première chose qui est retirée.
Le châssis est ensuite placé sur le marbre de raccourcissement que nous avions réalisé lors de notre premier Manx.
La découpe de la poutre est réalisée en escalier pour rajouter de la rigidité à l’ensemble.
Les découpes sont tracées d’après gabarits puis réalisées, les 2 parties du châssis sont rapprochées , ajustées puis soudées ensemble.
Un travail a réaliser méticuleusement si l’on ne veut pas abimer les tuyaux d’essence et gaines de freins qui passent dans la poutre.
Au passage, ce châssis de 68′ semi-automatique s’est vu greffer une gaine supplémentaire pour le passage du câble d’embrayage.
On termine pour aujourd’hui avec la présentation des gabarits de découpes des planchers.

Modify and shorten a VW chassis for a Manx customer project : the buggy Manx chassis project
The floorpans were in such a condition needed to be replaced, this is the first thing that is removed
The frame is then placed on ther shortening marble that we made during our first Manx creation
The cutting is performed in steps to add rigidity to the assembly
The cuts are drawn from templates and made, the two parts of the frame are moved, adjusted and welded together
A job has carefully realize if you do not want to damage the fuel and brakes line passing through the beam
In passing, this ’68 semi-automatic frame has been grafted an additional line for the passage of the clutch cable
We end today with the presentation of the cutting templates on the new quality floorpans.
