C’est le premier sujet consacré à la restauration d’un châssis de Buggy Sovra LM1 Français que nous publions ici.
Ce projet était pourtant entamé depuis quelques temps …
Mais ce n’est qu’a la fin de celui-ci “hier” que je me suis aperçu que je n’avais rien publié avant !
Ici pas de raccourcissement de châssis vu qu’il l’est déjà … “juste” un travail de restauration complète.
Son état n’était pas vraiment fort différent du chassis buggy Manx project réalisé l’an passé.
L’état des planchers, du nez et du chapeau de napoléon ne nous laissent pas d’autre choix que de les remplacer.
Et une nouvelle fois il y aura aussi du travail pour rattraper les escaliers réalisés aux jonctions des diverses découpes.
On commence par gratter et découvrir … et découper tout ce qui pourri.
La poutre est grattée, coupée et débarrassée du superflu … puis se paie un premier aller-retour au sablage,
histoire de gagner un peu de temps et réaliser la suite du travail de soudure sur une base bien propre.
On démarre la reconstruction avec la soudure de la tôle de nez de châssis et le chapeau de napoléon …
et on termine pour aujourd’hui avec le traçage de la découpe du premier demi plancher.

This project was initiated some time ago …
But this is that at the end of this one “yesterday” that I realized that I had nothing published here before!
Here no frame shortening … “just” a full restoration work on the chassis
His condition was not really very different from the Manx chassis project conducted last year
The condition of floorpans, frame nose and support hat leave no other choice than to replace
( After 40 years to have dragged in the mud, water or earth … a buggy chassis is rarely nickel ! )
And again there will also work to catch up the stairs made at the junctions of different original cuts
It starts by scratching and discover .. and cut everything rotten
The beam is scraped, cut and stripped of superfluous … then a first roundtrip to sandblasting,
Story to earn bit of scrapping time and make the rest of the welding work on a clean base
We start the reconstruction with welding and spot welding the frame nose plate and support …
and finish for today … with tracing the cutting of the first half floorpan
We follow and finish this story project in a second episode … next week …
