18 ème partie de ce projet consacré à la restauration d’un Bus Bay Window 70 importé du Japon.
Dans le dernier post il était question de supports de cric et leurs renforts et de passage de roues arrière
Aujourd’hui on commence par s’occuper du remplacement du toit …
Toit qui dans un premier temps avait été découpé pour y placer un toit ouvrant à l’avant … puis mal ressoudé
Puis ensuite modifié ( à la barbare ) de Westfalia Tin-Top en Westfalia Pop-top
Il ne fallait pas plus de raisons pour lui trouver un toit de remplacement
Mais surtout un toit de combi de luxe avec toit ouvrant comme ceux utilisés pour les Wesfalia pop-top
Le retrait du toit démarre avec une très très longue séance de dépointage (quelques centaines de points)
On profite que le toit est ôté pour s’attaquer à la réparation du montant B de porte passager
celui ci était encore chiffonné après un choc latéral à cet endroit (qui avait été “naturellement” mal réparé …)
Si l’on voulait que le joint de porte soit efficace … il fallait naturellement aussi réparer cet endroit là !

In the last post, it was question of jack supports and closing of the rear wheel arches and rear sill
Today we start by taking care of the replacement of the roof …
Roof that had initially been cut to place a sunroof in the front … then badly re-soldered
And later cut (Barbarian style) to modify the Westfalia Tin-Top to Westfalia Pop-top
There was no more reason to find a replacement roof for that poor combi
But above all a “de luxe” roof combi with big sunroof like those used for the Wesfalia pop-top
The removal of the roof starts with a very long session of depointing (a few hundred points)
We take advantage that the roof is removed to attack the repair of the passenger door B-pillar
It was still crumpled after a side impact at this place (which had been “naturally” badly repaired …)
If we wanted the door seal to be effective … of course we had to fix this place too !
We talk again about the replacement of the roof in the next post …
